History

Konan had humble beginnings in a lower class family. She was released into foster care as a toddler after her parents died in a car accident, and grew up in a group home. It was there that she made friends with two boys with whom she was rarely ever separated from. Nagato and Yahiko.

The three were close-knit friends, and at one point were even temporarily put collectively into the care of a man who fostered them who went by the name of Jiraiya. The trio stayed with him for a few years before being moved into another group home, still together for the moment. Later on though, by Konan's 12th birthday, she would be placed into the care of the Hanami family, and be adopted as their only daughter. She tried to never lose contact with her former companions for long, though time does have a way of testing all bonds. Though, over time she lost track of Yahiko, assuming that he too was adopted.

Her time spent in the Hanami family was pleasant. Her new parents were of traditional Japanese heritage despite being second generation American citizens, and as such instilled their own morals and values into their adopted daughter. By her 15th birthday they had made the move back to America from Japan final, and it was then that she truly lost touch with the other two who were so dear. Once or twice in her mid-teenage years, she would travel back to visit extended family in Iga-Ueno but she was never able to find out their whereabouts. . Her new family was by no means wealthy...but they had money for what they needed and Konan wanted for nothing necessary. However, with the approach of college, as high school came closer to an end, the young woman had yet to find a way to pay. She was approached by a companion about being able to accept a loan...under the table, that would allow her to pay for her tuition without worry. Wanting to make her new family proud, she jumped at the chance, though she is aware that now she owes the "kindly" organization a favor of some sort.

Whether they collect or not is another story.
